RTS Logs (“us”, “we”, or “our”) uses a small number of cookies on logsdorset.com (the “Service”). This page lists every one of them, what it is for, and how to accept or refuse it.
What are cookies
Cookies are small pieces of text that a website stores in your web browser. They let the site, or a service the site uses, recognise your browser when you come back.
Cookies can be “persistent” or “session” cookies. A persistent cookie stays on your device until it expires or you delete it; a session cookie is deleted when you close your browser.
The cookies we use
We use one kind of optional cookie: analytics cookies from Google Analytics 4. They tell us how people use the site — which pages are visited, how visitors arrive and which enquiries come through — so we can improve it. They do not tell us who you are, and we do not use them for advertising. There are no advertising cookies on this site.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells one visitor apart from another, so visits can be counted | 2 years |
| _ga_FCB5RBMTY8 | Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current visit | 2 years |
These cookies are only set if you choose “Accept all” in the cookie banner. Until you do, Google Analytics is not loaded at all: nothing is sent to Google Analytics and no analytics cookies are set. If you choose “Reject all”, none are set, and if you change your mind later and reject them, we delete any that were set.
The only other thing we store is your choice itself, so we don’t ask on every page. It is necessary for the banner to work, so it is always on, and it is only ever read by this website:
| Name | Stored in | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| rts-consent | Your browser’s local storage | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies (“granted” or “denied”) | 6 months |
| rts_consent | A cookie, only if your browser blocks local storage | The same, when local storage isn’t available | 6 months |
We do not use any other cookies.
Your choice and how long we keep it
On your first visit, a banner at the bottom of the screen asks whether you accept analytics cookies. “Accept all” and “Reject all” are equally easy to choose, and you can keep using the website without choosing.
We remember your answer for 6 months, in rts-consent (or the rts_consent cookie) described above. It holds only “granted” or “denied” — nothing about you. After 6 months the banner asks again.
Maps on this website
Two maps load content from other companies. Neither is used to track you for us, and we do not receive any information from them.
- The delivery map on our Home, Logs and Coal pages shows map images from OpenStreetMap. These images do not set cookies.
- The Google Maps map showing our yard, on our Contact page, is provided by Google. It only loads if you click “Show map”, so until you do, Google is not contacted and cannot set cookies. Once loaded, it set no cookies when we checked, but Google may set or read its own cookies through it (for example if you are signed in to a Google account), under Google’s own privacy policy. If you would rather avoid this, use the directions link instead, or block third-party cookies in your browser.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time: use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page to open the cookie banner again, and choose “Accept all” or “Reject all”. If you switch to “Reject all”, Google Analytics stops and we delete its cookies straight away.
You can also delete or block cookies in your web browser’s settings. If you clear your browser’s cookies and site data, we will ask again on your next visit.
More information about cookies
You can learn more about cookies, and how to manage them in your browser, at AllAboutCookies. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use Google Analytics at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
